Hello everyone! Welcome to “My Table”. I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather (we finally have some here in East Tennessee). I know my scrolling through Instagram has gotten me excited about fall produce and fall cookery. I hope you can say the same!
This month, I want to share a powerful lesson on “Spots” from a recent Coaching call, highlight a recent business trip to Atlanta, and provide a few updates for you!
Let’s get cooking!

The Main Course
I’m sure we have all heard of “a blind spot”. I have them, you have them, we all have them. Often times, we need outside assistance to help see them and work through them. Let’s look at several “spots” and what to do about each one:
1. The Blind Spot – What You Don’t Know You’re Missing
Summary: This is often an area of frustration. A place where we lack awareness. These are often weaknesses or opportunities we don’t see because of our focus or perspective.
Key Insight: Identify them by seeking feedback, asking hard questions, and reflecting on your patterns.
Make a Move: This Week – Ask someone close to you for honest feedback and let them serve as a mirror.
2. The Sweet Spot – What You’re Naturally Good At
Summary: We love this place! It’s where our strengths lie. It’s where our natural talent and flow intertwine and where we can make the greatest impact with the least resistance.
Key Insight: How can you capitalize on your sweet spot? Recognize what comes easily to you and put more energy into developing those strengths.
Make a Move: This Week – Reflect on what you do effortlessly and identify one action that allows you to spend more time doing that thing.
3. The Soft Spot – Where You’re Vulnerable but Can Grow
Summary: This spot represents vulnerability, insecurity, and sensitivity. We realize there is room to grow but we must press through the inevitable discomfort.
Key Insight: Again, as we lean into discomfort and use vulnerability as a tool for personal and professional growth.
Make a Move: This Week – Let’s select one area where you feel vulnerable and take a step toward growth in that area.
4. The Dark Spot – The Shadow You Don’t Want to Face
Summary: This place looms and lurks. It’s somewhere we often push to the side due to fear or past experiences.
Key Insight: It’s crucial to confront these hidden fears because they often hold the key to transformation. In fact, it’s bring issues into the light and talking about them that make the difference.
Make a Move: This Week – Consider something, anything that’s personal to you, which you’ve been avoiding. Take one small step towards facing or addressing it.
This week, I challenge you to make a move, take a step, or maybe take a stand… and see what happens. Shoot me an email or Instagram DM and let me know what you discover! I’ll be doing the same!
Happenings
Sometimes meeting your hero is a let down. Sometimes it changes your perspective. However, this past weekend meeting my hero did not disappoint.
I got to meet my Coach & Mentor, Dharius Daniels of Daniels Den. He’s a prolific speaker, leader, and entrepreneur and graciously hosted a small group of us at his corporate office in Atlanta. (I’ve included pictures below.) It was an amazing time to go behind-the-scenes in filming his content for you tube and online courses as well as q & a and networking.
This was one of those opportunities where I had to commit to personal growth and elected to take the day, drive to ATL, and book a room for the night. Growth can be attributed to proximity and, at times, simply being in the room makes all the difference.
Key Takeaways:
- Your héros are humans too. Take them off the pedestal.
- The trip was worth it. I have notes and memories that will serve me well.
- Progress in anything takes practice. Start today and run the play. It’ll work if you work it.
- Atlanta traffic is terrible.
Updates
I’ve had a few things “simmering” for a while. Excited to share these updates with you!
- I’ll be partnering with Big Slate Media of Knoxville beginning in October to update, enhance, and elevate my social media game. You’ll see enhanced videography, aesthetics, and more focused and strategic content.
- My landing page for keynote speaking is almost ready to publish. I’ll reveal the name very soon!
- I’ll be “rebranding” the newsletter in the months to come to sync up with speaking and the new landing page. Culinary content will still be included and I’m confident it will add even more value to your life.
- I’ve been going LIVE on Instagram lately. Often while I’m doing meal prep in client’s homes. I’ve thought about other LIVE sessions such as Q&A or AMA (ask me anything). What do you think? What types of content would you like to see from me on IG? @chefkevinculinary
