A Newsletter for Quitters, Compulsives, and Creatives

March 20, 2024
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great March! I don’t know about you but I’m so ready for warmer weather! Now that we are 3 months in to the new year I think it’s a good time to reflect on where we are, how far we have (or haven’t) come, and where we are going.

AKA – How’s those new year’s resolutions? : )

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that Food and Fitness are two of my passions. I’ve been a lifelong runner, did crossfit for a while, and took up hybrid racing last year.

This month I want to share a few excerpts from my recent competitions in hopes it will spur you on to greater things in quarter two of this year!

Food and Fitness are two of my Passions 1

The Main Course

Last year was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. It had many highlights (the successful relaunch of my business, new gym and social circle, my first couple hyrox competitions) but it included several major setbacks and situations (an unexpected divorce, dissolution of business expansion, and the inability to train hard because of the stress of it all).

However, if you know me at all. I’m no quitter. In fact, I’ve got four, yes, four, really good quitting stories. I’m not the type to settle and I hope you aren’t either.

I had a dear friend encouraged me one day last winter. He basically said, “Kevin, you need to think about who you want to be at the end of all this… and will you like who you become?” That stuck with me.

While many turn to worser evils during tumultuous times I chose to take back my fitness, and take back my life. Regain my power.

While the divorce got finalized, the calendar of clients fluctuated, and I spent 8 weeks in a friend’s spare bedroom I focused on my fitness. Through grit and grace I emerged from the doldrums of 2023 and am happy to report a very successful first solo Hyrox Men’s race!

(If you aren’t familiar with HYROX simply Google it! Fascinating sport!)

I put together a solid race and finished:

8th out of 235 in my age group, 35-39

43 out of over 350 men, overall

All this to say…, when life gets tough we have a choice. To succumb or to rise up. I hope this inspires and encourages you to also regain your power. There’s plenty of 2024 left to do so!!!

The Spring Dinner Party 1

Happenings

The Spring Dinner Party season is in full swing! Above are a couple pictures from a recent dinner. I love focusing on seasonality as well as elevating everyday ingredients. Here, you see Grouper with Asparagus Veloute & Spring Peas as well as Filet w/ Fondant Potato, Brioche, & Smoked Mushrooms!

If you’ve ever thought about entertaining but don’t want to deal with the hassle I know a guy! Send me an email for details. Let me make your life better one meal at a time!

Also, I’ve got an opportunity to speak to a group of real estate professionals in April about healthy living. In preparation for that, I’d like to hear from you! What is your greatest challenge to living healthy? How have you overcame it?
